West Leeds Boys' High
|
What happened to the school . . .March 1999 . . .The old boys' school was closed down several years ago, but being a grade 2 listed building, was unable to be demolished and remained in a state of disuse. It is now being converted into flats. Houses are being built on the school field and the estate bears the name "College Lawns". West Leeds High School is now a mixed comprehensive located on the site of the former girls' school. New buildings were added to accommodate the increased school population. May 2009 . . .I have been back to Leeds and have had the opportunity to take some more photos:-
Where am I now? . . .I now live in Wirral where I have been since 1981. I live with my wife Shirley and my two daughters Sarah (born 1987) and Rachel (born 1990). I worked as a software engineer for 27 years until the end of 2005. I am now self-employed doing a mixture of IT work and gardening (quite a contrast!). We still have links with Leeds. My mother continued to live in the family home right up until June 2008, just a few weeks before she passed away. My brother Roddy is now in a residential home, attends one of the Leeds training centres and is successfully living a semi-independent life.
